Creativity???

Ok, so the most creative thing I've done recently is building a website from a template.

You can see it at Mission Adventure

It was about as much work as I thought it would be. Now I just need to update it, get it more cohesive.

Oh, I did re-design Hubby's building business card, and his Mission Adventure business card (which I did the first version of too)

A Noise update... kinda

Just popping in to say that Noise was Fantastic, Awesome, Spectacular, and yes a bit noisy at times.

I SHALL write more, but have to pay accounts first ;)

Hope you are all having fun, whatever you are doing!

Noise is on the way!!!

Parenthetical aside before we get into the blog proper: feeling all very technical- couldn't log in, couldn't log in, couldn't log in..... cleared cookies, changed settings, couldn't log in.

Then thought to change "browser identification" for the sign in page, so Opera tells the webpage that it is IE and not Opera... voila! Signed in ;-) Feeling rather silly now

Musically dull
Unfortunately I've been feeling my age, and with is I've been feeling very dull, not shiney and sharp edged.

My singing seems all shot to pieces instead of above average.... something I haven't felt like for a veeeeerrrryyyyyyy long time- like since I was 13.

*sigh* Not a lot can be done about this except to work it through- keep drinking water, keep singing, remember to do the breathing exercises, remember to push myself beyond average comfortable.

So why this?

That's because Noise is on the way again *happy dance*

Noise is my bit of musical encouragement for the year, the event which validates the music in me.
-seminars for musicians, singers, technicians
-workshops for the same
-musician showcases

And this is all happening next week :-)

Creativity...

So have you ever pondered how creative God is?

Now- did you remember that God created us in His image?

That means that you were created to be creative!!!!!!!!!

I find that mind-blowing!

And I am being challenged to be creative
Be more creative
To actually do stuff!

Think about it!

CD's or not cd's

So who here has lead worship accompanied by a cd instead of live musicians?

I seem to recall saying after last time that I "wouldn't do it again, if I can help it"

... thing learned from this experience- Don't say "I won't..."

I lead last Sunday, having found out on Friday that the expected leader was in hospital, the alternative keyboard player overseas, bass player hunting goats, sax player sailing, and the drummer wanted to sleep in.

Good setup, eh?!

Actually it went well- a lot of prayer along the lines of "Lord, what do YOU want to do?" was the key here.

It was nice to have folks make such positive noises about it afterwards.

MsE lead worship yesterday and did really well, especially as it was her first time leading at our church. She's the one who sang on the cd.

discovered that if i've had a really late night I CAN still sing, but sound better if I sing gently, instead of my usual full blat

Latest musical thing here

Well a while back three of us from Church were invited to spend a day in a recording studio to do backing for a cd... we did well, especially since we had no preparation except listening to the demos.

We all thought that nothing would come of it, except one lady who "duetted" one of the songs- and beautifully too. Then a couple of weeks ago I was handed a cd and told to look at the "credits"... we are on there, very quiet, very background, but we are on there ;-)

So, now to keep working at it, improving, developing.

Musically speaking...

There isn't a lot going on at the moment.

A friend Stateside send cd's- ones missing from my Third Day collection, and some extras... really enjoying them all, being challenged about my lack of musical development. Should be practicing every day, extending my breath, improving my posture

On Sunday I lead worship. Our regular keyboard player, the drummer, the bass player and the guitarist were away so we didn't have the usual team, just our "retired" pianist, saxophonist and me (vox). Did things a wee bit differently including a slide from one song into the chorus of another, then back again.... felt like hard work, but apparently others were moved- good to hear. Just shows- we can't depend on our own feelings to assess how it goes for others.

*Sigh*

This is a good place for thinking out loud without anyone answering back :-)

Anyway, Noise conference was a real buzz, now I need to get on with daily life, like feeding the family, tidying house, building the house, listening to everyone else here think out loud, being their brain when I need it myself.

Still, that doesn't stop me wanting to sing, and being very puzzled about how to keep stretching in it.

Hmmmm, along those lines I've accepted an invite to help a friend at a ladies group- she does the music, and is on her own this week and has asked me to sing with her... it is a step....

Kinda- one small step for (wo)man...

usically speaking

Well, I guess I've themed this blogger thing here.

It shall be my musical thing, and it shall be mine :)

So , was invited to be one of many backing vocalists for a new album being cut in the little fly-speck on the lower part of the globe. Do the studio guys realise how nerve-wracking that is? We had a lovely engineer, who did seem to understand, no one ran out in tears.

Well at least I gave them some ideas for putting in a male vocal hum on a song, after doing it about half a dozen times.... they'll have it on disk by now as the guys were recording yesterday, and we did our lot on Monday.

So of course we all think they were just being polite having us sing, but still hoping that our voices stay on the album, and even get mention on the sleeve.

It really is an up-and-down ride.

Now to find someone who LOVES my voice, writes lots of songs and has me sing them :)

NOISE conference starts tomorrow evening.... look out for more on that after.

Ta ta all
